Laurel Scott (she/her/hers) was born and raised in Mohkinstsis (Calgary) on Treaty 7 lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts with great distinction majoring in Art Studio at the University of Lethbridge in Sikokotoki (Lethbridge). During her undergrad, her artistic practice focused on responding to issues of feminism, environmentalism, and healing. Laurel recently returned to Alberta after living within the unceded territories of the Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam),  Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔt (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, where she completed the Documentary Filmmaking Program at Capilano University. She currently works at Writing-On-Stone/ Áísínai’pi Provincial Park & UNESCO World Heritage Site, while developing her practice to make art with the land and what it provides.
